The Maison-Musée Gauguin, in Clohars-Carnoët, is a historical reconstruction of the Buvette de la Plage. Sound creations, a play of light and new staging allow visitors to relive the atmosphere of 1890. In autumn 1889, Paul Gauguin, Meijer de Haan, Paul Sérusier and then Charles Filiger settled in Le Pouldu at the Buvette de la Plage run by Marie Henry. During the winter, these painters decorated the walls, ceiling, doors and windows of the dining room.
The story of Marie Henry’s inn can be told using digital tablets, videos, an introductory tour of the garden and painters’ notebooks in the bedrooms.
In summer, guided tours and activities for children are offered several times a week. (Ask at reception)
Leaving from the Maison-Musée Gauguin, the ‘painters’ trail’ offers 15 stops to find out more about the inspiration of the artists who came to paint at Le Pouldu.
