Quimperlé

Head east towards Quimperlé and its surroundings:  picturesque little ports such as Doëlan, Brigneau, Merrien and Rosbras, but also amazing natural sites such as the Devil’s Rocks or the mysterious forest of Carnoët. Land of Art and History, the country of Quimperlé is proud of its historical heritage: the enchanting sites of the Saint-Maurice abbey and the manor of Kernault will make you travel in ancient times, and you can also follow in the footsteps of Gauguin and other painters of the “school of Pont-Aven” at the Maison Musée du Pouldu.

The Bigouden country

About 45 minutes west of Concarneau, discover the Pays Bigouden: greet the catch of the day at the Guilvinec from the panoramic terrace of Haliotika The Fishery City, climb the 307 steps of the lighthouse of Eckmühl in Penmarc’h or surf the majestic waves of the Pointe de la Torche!

Cap Sizun

Further north, the  indented coast of the Pointe du Raz is a mustof your holidays: on a clear day or in heavy weather, this grandiose site will bewitch you with its wild and breathtaking beauty. From the coast, you may see the “La Vieille” lighthouse and the island of Sein: with the Penn Ar Bed or Finist’Mer companies, you can embark for this mythical island! On the way back, stop off at Pont-Croix, an adorable little town.

Quimper and Locronan

Less than 30 minutes north of Concarneau, you will for sure fall in love with Quimper, its cobbled streets, its colorful half-timbered houses and the sumptuous spires of its Gothic cathedral. Stroll along the banks of the Odet, discover the wonderful botanical gardens of Locmaria or La Retraite, visit the beautiful Breton Museum, Fine Arts Museum or the Faience Museum or go aboard for a gourmet cruise on the river Odet! A few kilometers from Quimper, discover one of the pearls of Brittany and one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France: Locronan, a village  entirely built with granite.

Brest Terres Océanes

At about an hour away from our destination, let’s visit Brest, the metropolis of Finistère!  Visit the dockyard, the port of the Moulin Blanc, the workshops of the Capuchins accessible by cable car… And, most of all,  dive into the oceans by exploring the three pavilions of Océanopolis! Along the way, stop off at the abbey of Daoulas to admire its splendid medieval-inspired gardens or the remains of one of the oldest monasteries in Brittany at the museum of the abbey of Landevennec.
It’s a bit further away but worth the detour: Plougonvelin and the Pointe Saint-Mathieu with its lighthouse and the ruins of an old abbey. Just a short walk away: the Museum Mémoire 39-45.
