The Tourist Office offers a guided tour to become unbeatable about the painting “the Talisman” by Paul Sérusier and the School of Pont-Aven.
Discovering this painting will also help you to understand the “School of Pont-Aven”.
An explanation pannel is located at the exact place where this painting lesson took place.
Your guide Annaïg will lead you on the footsteps of famous painters such as Gauguin or Sérusier who choosed to live in Pont-Aven for a while. She will show you the places where they used to stay, the Gloannec guesthouse and the Hôtel Julia.
The visit continues along the lovely and flowered Promenade Xavier Grall before joining the well-known Bois d’Amour.
You will have the chance to discover the heart of this inspiring wood through the eyes of the artists of Pont-Aven.
During the autumn of 1888, Gauguin explained to Paul Sérusier that he shouldn’t paint exactly what he could see but what he felt. This lesson gave birth to the “Talisman” which marked the beginning of abstract art.
With this one hour visit you will discover the beauty of Pont-Aven, its charming granite houses, the river and its blockfields, the wonderful light of the city and, why not, wake up your artistic soul!
In summertime, the visit starts every Wednesday at 11:00.
