The central theme of the visit is granite, at all times and for all uses. The tour lasts about 2 hours and starts at the Tourist Office of Trégunc. It is open to all and children will be pleased to discover the “granite animals”.
Please note that for the moment all our guided tours are in French.
This 2 hours (4,5 km) walking guided tour starting at the Tourist Office of Trégunc is accessible to everyone.
The tour starts with a visit of the Saint-Marc Church in order to discover the treasures of the building, listed as a Historic Monument: a silver-gilt processional cross dating back to the XVIIth century and a silver crozier of an abbess from 1611. Two magnificent items of an unquestionable artistic value.
To the north, the guided tour continues with the discovery of a splendid fence and of the last house made out of “Standing Stones” still present in the centre of the village. This specific architecture is unique in France and has been listed as “Landscape of retrieval” in 1993.
In the woods of Kergunus you will discover huge and impressive granite blockfields, just as nice as the rocks of Huelgoat! And there is so many legends and stories about this place, passed from generation to generation…
The petrified animals of Kergunus, stones with many faces, have inspired and aroused the admiration of famous authors such as Maupassant.
At a few hundred meters away from the woods you can admire a trembling rock of 150 tons, and if you feel like it you can make it wobble!
The visit ends at a few meters away, at the foot of one of the menhirs of the town (6 meters high!) and will unveil (almost) all the secrets of these mysterious megalithics dating back to the Neolithic.
